Their work is certain to have a huge impact

Mike from St. Louis Park, MN

I just saw news on a certain CB. I was wondering if Spoff took the rest of the week?

Ha, no, but I’m writing a few columns in a row because I’m taking time off at the end of this week and into next, so you get a little more from me before a big dose of Wes.

The Packers’ schedule doesn’t look too bad when you look at difficulty based on last year’s records, especially compared to last year. What you say?

In terms of recording, the calendar is easier. Last season, the Packers played 10 games against teams that made the playoffs the previous year. This year it’s seven. In addition, this year has four games against teams that have won four games or less against only one last year. This is a substantial change, statistically speaking.

Speaking of schedules, what chance do the Steelers have? They don’t have to leave the Eastern Time Zone for the entire season. It is wild, and therefore very advantageous.

Three of their non-division trips are to Indy, Philly and Buffalo. It would be like the Packers taking undivided road trips to Duluth, Madison and Ishpeming.

Henry from Brown Deer, WI

Insiders, now that the schedule is complete, what do you consider to be the hardest stretch? There are definitely some weird quirks. I agree that the Christmas game has me scratching my head. What are your thoughts?

Three games in a row on the road is a tough time no matter what, especially when one of the first two is a night game, because the turnaround time until next week’s flight is that much shorter . The only saving grace is that none of the three is a long journey.

John from Stevens Point, WI

What is there to write about this time of year? The draft and rookie minicamp are over. Looks like a “dead” time of the year.

It’s slow but not as dead as the period from mid-June until the start of training camp. Media will hear from assistant coaches over the next few days, then OTAs will begin next week.

Jeff from Indian Lake, NY

Hey guys, just saw the news about Jaire Alexander’s expansion! Well deserved for him and it also frees up space for this year. Is there any chance there’s something left on the back smuggler shaft that we can pick up now? Or will we have to wait until June/training camp? Imagine another impact at the level of De’Vondre Campbell!

To make such an acquisition two years in a row is a lot to ask. But the Packers now have a little more room to make a move if they feel the right fit is available.
