The Market Development Representative will be responsible for achieving distribution and new business development goals for our core brand portfolio. This role will build brands, maximize distribution and be the primary point of contact for new on-site accounts (restaurants and bars) and new off-site accounts (groceries, convenience stores, package stores) in the assigned territory. Steel City is expanding our Market Development team with Market Development Representatives as part of a strategic corporate expansion. The position comes with monthly, quarterly and annual sales incentives and a bonus structure on top of the base salary.Additional responsibilities of the Market Development Representative include

  • Communicate the message and quality of our brands to accounts.
  • Create and manage solutions to drive results that drive market share growth for Steel City’s leading brands.
  • Develop mutually valuable relationships with assigned clients, understanding their key needs and requirements.
  • Work daily in collaboration with our sales team to ensure efficient execution of newly developed business.
  • Support the Steel City leadership team in brand building, programming and distribution activities with customers.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience, or for new college graduates, a sales internship or a full/part-time sales position (preferably in consumer goods)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours (nights/weekends)
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • The candidate must reside in or near the territory

Preferred qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience
  • Experience in market development and sales analysis
  • Strong ability to self-manage and manage schedule to achieve results
  • Experience in building relationships with clients

Salary range – $42,000 – $50,000

  • Placement in the salary scale is calculated based on years of experience directly relevant to the position.
  • The salary scale refers to base salary only and does not include car allowance, incentive pay and bonuses, or fuel reimbursement.
