The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is seeking an experienced law enforcement professional to serve as a part-time Security Officer for the Fourth Judicial District Court Services Division.

Location and times: This position is located at the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55487. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week. Typical working hours will be Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

About this type of position: This is a part-time (temporary) limited term position (20 hours/week), without benefits, expected to last up to two years. This position is internally classified as a Security Officer. Click ++here++ to view the job classification specification.

As of September 1, 2021, all new job offers are conditional on the candidate being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. “Fully Vaccinated” means 14 days after receiving the second dose of a two-dose series of vaccines approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on a full or emergency basis, or 14 days after receiving received an FDA-approved single-dose vaccine on a full or emergency basis. *In this position, you will: *

  • Provide security for courtrooms and waiting areas in the Fourth Judicial District located in the Hennepin County Government Center.
  • Ensure the safety of on-duty court personnel, which includes judges, arbitrators, clerks, journalists and lawyers.
  • Ensure the safety of the public attending court hearings.
  • Ensure the safety of detainees, ensuring their orderly journey through the justice system via escort missions.

Need to have:

  • One of the following:
    • Two or more years of full-time experience in a security field, such as military, police, law enforcement, corrections, or industrial/proprietary/contract security.
    • One year or more of full-time experience in a security field, such as military, police, law enforcement, corrections, or industrial/proprietary/contract security and one year of college or technical study in a criminal justice field (eg, police science, law enforcement, corrections and/or security management).
    • Two or more years of college or technical studies in a field of criminal justice (eg police science, law enforcement, corrections and/or security management).
