The Information Security Group (ISG) is looking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to model software evolution and create tools to help developers deal with it. The postdoctoral researcher will work alongside Dr. Santanu Dash and other software security researchers at ISG on topics related to software evolution, automatic software transformation, and related fields.
The full-time, fixed-term position is funded for 3 years by an EPSRC grant (https://gow.epsrc.ukri.org/NGBOViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=EP/W015927/1) on the study and reduction of the impact of rapidly evolving libraries on the maintainability and therefore the security of their customers. Candidates with a strong background in all areas of software security and/or software engineering are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must have already completed or be about to complete a PhD in a relevant discipline. Candidates should have excellent software development skills and an outstanding research track record in building tools to automate software engineering tasks such as software analysis or software transformation. Applicants should be able to demonstrate scientific creativity, research independence, and the ability to effectively communicate their ideas in written and verbal form.
ISG is one of the largest dedicated information security departments in the world with over 20 core academic staff in the department. It is consistently ranked among the best departments in the UK for the quality of its cybersecurity research output (csrankings.org). We work with many research partners in other departments and have approximately 90 PhD students working on a wide range of security research, many of which are fully funded by our Center for Doctoral Training in Cybersecurity, one of only four in the UK. We have a strong, dynamic, integrated and successful multidisciplinary research profile, ranging from software security to cryptography and social aspects of security.
