AustCyber ​​and CyberCX have created a new online tool to help job seekers and employers visualize the current skills supply problem facing Australia’s cybersecurity industry.

The data shows an average of six existing workers for every cybersecurity job posting across the country – well below the average of 13 workers for all job types in Australia.

The lack of Australians with cybersecurity expertise has long been a problem for the country, with the government this month spending $26.5 million on improving our cyber skills.

CyberCX CEO John Paitaridis said the shortage of cybersecurity professionals is alarming.

CyberSeek shows that the most populous states – Victoria and NSW – unsurprisingly have the highest number of cybersecurity jobs available, but also that the ACT has both the highest concentration of demand for cyber experts and l lowest offer with just over two cyber professionals working in the nation’s capital for each job offer.

The online tool also offers insight into potential cybersecurity career paths, matching skills and certifications with their relevant job titles, as well as showing the career growth of entry-level positions. entry to advanced jobs, as well as the demand associated with each job title.

Interestingly, CyberSeek placed advanced-level “cybersecurity engineer” as the industry’s most needed job, ahead of mid-level analyst and consultant roles, while entry-level jobs are comparatively less requested.
