Networks and Digital Media Department Manager Job at KINGSTON UNIVERSITY

Kingston University is a modern and thriving institution. Now is a very exciting time in its evolution as it seeks to implement its Town House strategy. Named after the internationally acclaimed, award-winning Town House building, the strategy will prepare students for the future world of work, increase the University’s research and knowledge exchange, improve its collaboration with local communities, businesses and the industry, will strengthen its impact on policies and support the goal of building a more sustainable society and economy.

It is built around four themes:

  • Driving a progressive new model of education, combining subject-specific knowledge with the future skills and attributes most sought after by employers.
  • Partner with industry to develop student skills and engage government and organizations with University expertise to deepen debate and influence policy.
  • Impact research, knowledge exchange and professional practice.
  • Provide an innovative and efficient work environment for staff.

In order to achieve the right results, Kingston University is making significant investments and has also undertaken structural changes in terms of STEM provision. Several positions are therefore available in the new Faculty of Engineering, Computer Science and the Environment. Leading the Department of Networks and Digital Media is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced academic leader to further develop a very contemporary and interesting entity that has many opportunities for growth. Located within the School of Computing and Mathematics, the department has excellent infrastructure and a dynamic portfolio that includes cybersecurity and creative computing. It is therefore ready to benefit from an exciting vision that aligns with the townhouse strategy.

Applicants should have a strong and relevant profile, supported by a thorough understanding of the building blocks of a world-class department in these disciplines. Obviously, these are rapidly changing and developing topics, so an ability to adapt and adjust the offer according to student and employer expectations will be important. So is the ability to ensure that quality research and teaching is a distinct and desirable proposition. Strong people management skills are a prerequisite, as is a willingness to fully embrace Kingston University’s travel direction.
