NC teen in foster care craves for a support system

Asya, 17, is a strong, intelligent young woman who graduated from high school early and is in college with a part-time job. “Everything I’ve worked hard for or had to go through in life happened in this moment.” Asya proudly shows off her diploma. “I just feel like I really accomplished a lot and that certifies that I did.” She aims for the stars. Asya is working on becoming a science fiction writer and hopes to produce and star in her own films one day. “I used to think that no one would ever want to adopt me or my siblings at that time, luckily my younger siblings were adopted and they are with a family that loves them and take care of them and I want to,” Asya explained.

Especially after Asya said she was forced to grow up too fast.

“I just want a forever family to bond with, have fun with and talk about everything, someone to share my problems with. I’ve never really had a mother to show me love, so I’ve never had that feeling from a mother, so that’s something I want too.
