Johns Hopkins Carey Business School full-time MBA graduates in 2022 earned 25% more than their 2021 colleagues, according to the new B-school employment report

MBA students in the Johns Hopkins Carey Business Class of 2022 have spent nearly their entire academic career learning virtually, having started in the teeth of the coronavirus pandemic in fall 2020 and not returning to class until early 2022 , at the beginning of their second spring.

Yet amid all the uncertainty and challenges presented by the global health crisis that has defined their MBAs, Carey’s 65 2022 graduates have reported remarkable results, including an astonishing 25% increase in average base salary and a nearly 30% increase in average signing bonus over their class. of 2021 colleagues.

The pandemic “hasn’t clouded our full-time MBA students’ commitment to success,” write Jenn Leard, director of coaching and education at Johns Hopkins Carey, and Corinne Brassfield, director of employer relations. , in the foreword to Carey’s new 2022 MBA. employment report. “Our MBA students have shown resilience and found great opportunities.”

MORE THAN A QUARTER OF 2022 MBAS WERE IN HEALTH-RELATED FIELDS

The average base salary rose from $101,289 to $127,044 and the average signing bonus rose from $21,977 to $28,271, the latter jump of 29% in one year. The average for other compensation was $17,263, down from $23,958, a decrease of 28%.

Of the Carey School graduates who reported this year, 89% had accepted a job within three months of graduation – more than a quarter of them, unsurprisingly, in the health sector . The Carey Health, Technology and Innovation pathway is one of two pathways around which the Carey MBA is designed; it drives leadership in the healthcare industry, with technology-driven, human-centered solutions to complex challenges in areas such as digital health, artificial intelligence in healthcare and patient management. records, and other related fields. Outside of healthcare, nearly 20% of Carey’s MBAs in 2022 have held jobs in consulting, more than 16% in technology, and nearly 10% in financial services. Major employers include Amazon, AstraZeneca, Goldman Sachs, Nike and SiriusXM.

In the three years since the Carey MBA redesign, 94% of all graduates have secured full-time employment within 90 days of graduation. Their average starting salaries have increased by 32% since 2020. Five years after the MBA, Carey alumni earn nearly four times what they earned before graduating.

54% HAVE FOUND JOBS THROUGH THE SCHOOL’S CAREER OFFICE

The graduates thanked Carey’s Career Development Office for helping them find their first work experience as an MBA graduate. More than half of the full-time MBA class of 2022 said they found their jobs through school career opportunities, rather than their own network.

“My career coach has helped me develop my story, present myself in the best light through personal branding and expand my network,” says Ali Mehdi, a graduate from the class of 2022, who now works as a business strategy analyst for American Airlines.

ACROSS PROGRAMS, CAREY LEADS ON GENDER EQUITY

Allen is part of another important distinction for Carey: one of the highest percentages of women in full-time MBA programs among an elite list of Forté Foundation members. This year, with 52% women, Carey marked three straight years with at least half women in her full-time MBA.

“Women who are attracted to this program have the drive to take a new program and make it their own,” says Stacey B. Lee, MBA Academic Program Director. “The people who come to us are largely already leaders. What we do while they’re here is teach them how to channel that passion into achieving what they want to achieve.

But it’s not just the MBA where Carey leads gender equity. Fifty-two percent of Carey’s entire student body are women, and half of the professors who teach in the program are women. Courses are developed and structured with an intentional lens of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
