Loyalsock Township School Board seeks to fill vacancy | News, Sports, Jobs

The Loyalsock Township School Board has accepted Valerie Komarnicki’s resignation and is now seeking candidates for the vacant position at its last meeting.

“We now have an open seat on the board of directors, and we have a timetable in which we have an obligation to fill the seat,” said Carolyn R. Strickland, Chair of the Board. “We will be accepting applications until September 28, 2022. We will conduct interviews for those who submit applications in full on Monday, October 3, beginning these interviews at 6 p.m.

“We will then appoint our new board member at our next board meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, October 5. Nominations can be made at our district center,” she continued.

The board approved repairs to the secondary campus auditorium lighting panels. Expenses must not exceed $50,000 and will come from the Capital Projects Fund.

The board also approved the purchase of a John Deere Gator with attachments from LandPro Equipment LLC at a cost of $19,636. The gator is purchased under Deere & Co.

“We currently have one which is nine years old, we bought it in 2013. Currently it is shared between our sports coach and also our buildings and grounds department. … We thought it would be the perfect time to invest in a new one, for the safety and security of our students,” And Egly, business manager.

The board also welcomed a new temporary professional employee, Tatiana Beard, as an elementary school teacher, endorsing the recommendation for her appointment.

The board approved the donation of office furniture and equipment valued at approximately $150,000 from Chesapeake Energy Corp.

The Board also approved the following appointments and transfers: Lynette Pauling, full-time paraprofessional, $14.50 per hour; Daniel Taddeo, part-time paraprofessional, $12.05 per hour; Shannon Butters, 203-223 day secretary transfer with data coordinator duties, $17 an hour.

The board acknowledged the following resignations: Tiffany Gettinger, food service employee, effective August 30; Arin Moyer, food service employee, effective August 29; Sandra Caschera, food service employee, starting August 13; Laura Sands, paraprofessional, starting August 17; and Ashley Hewlett, math teacher, tentatively effective Oct. 17.
