(ISC)² Launches Entry-Level Certified in Cybersecurity℠ Certification to Address Global Workforce Gap

After a rigorous pilot program, the association’s newest certification is officially live and more than 1,500 pilot participants who have passed the exam are on their way to full certification.

ALEXANDRIA, Va., August 31, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — (ISC)² – the world’s largest nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals – today announced a historic expansion of its membership and global cybersecurity workforce. With the official launch of the (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity℠ certification, (ISC)² is delivering on its commitment to address the global cybersecurity workforce gap by creating new pathways into the profession for people interested in a career in cybersecurity. Anyone earning the (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity demonstrates they have the fundamental knowledge, skills and abilities to take on entry-level and junior-level cybersecurity roles, enabling employers to more confidently build resilient teams at all levels of experience.

“We face a growing global cybersecurity workforce gap of over 2.7 million people. One of the most persistent cybersecurity staffing challenges around the world is to be able to identify entry-level and junior candidates with the right skills and abilities to learn and grow on the job.At the same time, young career hopefuls are unable to demonstrate their understanding of cybersecurity concepts and attract the attention of managers in the recruitment,” said Clara Rosso, (ISC)² CEO. “Our Certified in Cybersecurity certification fills this gap and connects employers with qualified entry-level candidates backed by the world’s largest association of certified cybersecurity professionals. (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity is one of many impactful solutions underway at ( ISC)² to reduce the cybersecurity workforce gap, remove barriers to entry into the field, and provide a long-term positive opportunity for individuals and employers.”

The (ISC)² Certified in Cybersecurity certification was created to support and nurture a new generation of cybersecurity practitioners entering the field – from recent college graduates to retraining IT professionals – seeking to validate their security skills and to access a new career and a professional development path.

  • Principles of security
  • Concepts of business continuity (BC), disaster recovery (DR) and incident response
  • Access control concepts
