PUC Services Inc. (PUC) operates several utilities in and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the supply, treatment and distribution of municipal drinking water, the supply of electricity and the operation of wastewater treatment facilities.

PUC offers a dynamic, stimulating and rewarding work environment that encourages collaboration and innovative thinking. We are looking for a new member to join our Information Security department. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, problem solver and critical thinker with an innate desire to learn and grow.

Reporting to the Manager, Information Security, the Information Security Specialist will implement, maintain and monitor a variety of enterprise IT/OT network based solutions. The main responsibilities of this position include:
• Assistance in maintaining the information security strategy on all IT/OT, network and data assets
• Maintain security measures and technologies in place for updates and configuration changes
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and ensure mitigating controls are in place
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level security support. Member of the CSIRT for any investigation and ensuring action is taken to mitigate security risks
• Provide support for Microsoft cloud services and LDAP features
• Continuous improvement of processes and policies within the organization as well as research and application of the latest industry standard security technologies
• Ensure compliance with NIST Cybersecurity Framework controls and other regulatory obligations
• Understand government legislation regarding utility industry regulations and privacy laws
• Monitor security alerts and configurations for IT and OT environments
• Documentation and reviews of all cybersecurity processes and procedures
• Provide advice to all lines of business with support on topics related to information security
• Continuously promote security awareness to all employees in the organization

Qualifications:
• Minimum post-secondary degree in the field of information technology
• Security certification(s) such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, CRISC and/or other certifications are an asset
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience in information security technology
• Experience in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
• Experience with risk/vulnerability management mitigation controls
• Proficiency in Microsoft cloud services and LDAP administration
• Experience with PowerShell scripts and other programming languages
• Thorough knowledge of information technology and security of operational technology devices.
• Knowledge of computer security incident response processes
• Experience in disaster recovery technologies and methodologies
• Knowledge of the latest security architectures and security technologies
• Mastery of Cloud technologies, firewalls, IPS, Endpoint Security protection
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication (oral and written), analytical and time management skills
• Excellent skills in documentation and architectural design diagrams
• Be effective in managing multiple projects/tasks of varying complexity, meet deadlines and work well under pressure, as well as proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
