December 2022 saw a 6.69% increase in overall hiring activity compared to November 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 9.44% share of total industry hiring activity in December 2022, down 1.23% from the average share for the past three months.

The professions of software and website developers, programmers and testers have become the main IT profession in South and Central America with a share of 42.15% in December 2022, an increase of 39.77% compared to to the previous month. IT and information analysts came next, claiming a 36.33% share in December 2022, marking a 56.06% month-over-month increase. In third place were miscellaneous IT occupations with a share of 11.46% in December 2022, an increase of 47.73% from November 2022.

Database and network administrators and architects recorded a share of 7.05% in December 2022, down 2.44% from the previous month.

The top five companies, by number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 96.97% in overall South and Central American banking and payments IT hiring activity in December 2022 compared to the previous month.

AIA Group posted 153 IT jobs in December 2022 and recorded a 750% increase over the previous month, followed by Banco Santander with 145 jobs and a growth of 20.83%. Banco de Credito e Inversiones with 49 IT jobs and WEX with 23 jobs, recorded a decrease of 12.5% ​​and an increase of 666.67%, respectively, while Charles Taylor recorded an increase of 1,900% with 20 job offers in December 2022.

Junior-level job openings dominate in December 2022

Junior-level jobs held a share of 71.08%, up 40.91% from November 2022. Mid-level positions, with a share of 16.05%, saw a growth of 42.19 % compared to the previous month.

In third place were entry-level job advertisements with 10.23% market share, up 26.09% from November 2022, while senior job advertisements accounted for 2.65%, recording a monthly growth of 114.29%.
