New Delhi: As of July 2022, 96,000 Indian students were pursuing their higher education in Australia, making it the second largest group of overseas students after China. This figure indicates how popular Australia is among Indian students when it comes to education abroad. Australia maintains a very efficient education system with a relevant curriculum and provides every possible support to students from other countries. This is the reason why it has been the most popular destination for Indian students wishing to obtain a foreign degree.

The two countries have signed an Economic and Trade Cooperation Agreement (ECTA) to strengthen their relations. Some of its provisions facilitate the movement of students and promote research, encouraging more Indian students to choose Australia as their next educational destination. This will increase the number of Indian students in Australia. However, students sometimes find themselves in a situation of indecision when choosing their subject. A good understanding of career prospects is necessary to make a good decision.

Promising academic fields

Australia offers courses for students interested in a variety of fields, including business, science, engineering, and architecture. Engineering programs like Mechanical Engineering have a lot of potential in Australia for academically inclined students. The country is committed to increasing domestic manufacturing and production to reduce its dependence on imports. Australia has an abundance of natural resources and over time it will make significant advances in the manufacturing sector, generating a large number of jobs for the people. Also, as Australia intends to develop its technology and cybersecurity industries, courses like information technology are becoming more popular day by day.

The importance of mental health and related courses is increasing every day due to growing health awareness. Soon, courses on mental health and well-being would be well attended. A wonderful alternative is breastfeeding due to Australia’s aging population. Many healthcare professionals will be needed to care for this demographic. This also raises the question of the effectiveness of social work education. Social work may soon become a desirable degree for students.

Australian business programs are also popular with students. For example, carpentry is one such popular course. With the growth of building and construction, professional carpenters will continue to be in demand in Australia. The carpentry course leads to the building permit, offering multiple advantages. Australia offers employment opportunities in different sectors with the best salary packages in the world. In this country, the employment rate is high. All of the above courses have employers in the public and commercial sectors, and many of them are even willing to sponsor the ideal candidate with a firm commitment period. Overall, there is a strong need for these workers in Australia.

In addition, Australian degrees are globally recognized. Australian institutions are known to adopt new technologies faster and more effectively than universities in other countries. The infrastructure and facilities related to education are of the highest quality. For this reason, among the top 100 universities in the world, there are more than 14 Australian institutions. This widespread acceptance of Australian degrees around the world opens many doors for degree holders. Many job offers are made to students, who select the best one according to their goals and desires. The career prospect is bright with an Australian degree.
