Canadian Aerospace, Defense and Security Industry IT Recruitment Activity Drops 8.0% in June 2022

Canada’s aerospace, defense and security industry saw an 8.0% decline in IT hiring activity in June 2022 compared to the previous month, according to the Job Analytics database from GlobalData.

Overall industry hiring was down 6.15% in June 2022 compared to May 2022.

Of the total Aerospace, Defense and Security industry hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.54% share in June 2022, registering a decline of 0.25% from compared to the average share of the last three months.

Top Five Job Classifications in Canadian Aerospace, Defense and Security Industry IT Recruitment Activity in June 2022

Of the total number of job titles, the top five positions accounted for 96.72% of the Canadian aerospace, defense and security industry’s overall IT recruitment activity in June 2022.

1) Software and web developers, programmers and testers recorded a share of 59.02% in June 2022, registering a decrease of 29.41% compared to the previous month.

2) Database and network administrators and architects claimed a 14.75% share, down 10% from the previous month.

3) IT support specialists held an 8.2% share, down 28.57% from May 2022.

4) Miscellaneous IT occupations captured an 8.2% share, down 16.67% from the prior month.

Top five aerospace, defense and security companies in IT recruitment activity in Canada in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of the number of jobs tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 14.04% in the share of overall IT recruitment activity in the Canadian aerospace industry, defense and security in June 2022 compared to May 2022.

CAE posted 22 IT jobs in June 2022 and was up 83.33% from the previous month, followed by Raytheon Technologies with 10 jobs and down 28.57%. Thales with 7 IT jobs and Teledyne Technologies with 6 jobs, recorded a decrease of 41.67% and a decrease of 62.5% respectively, while Airbus recorded an increase of 33.33% with 4 job offers. employment in June 2022.

Junior-level job openings dominate in June 2022

Junior-level jobs held a share of 36.07%, down 37.14% from May 2022. Mid-level positions, with a share of 32.79%, saw a decline of 35.48 % compared to the previous month.

In third place were entry-level vacancies with a share of 31.15%, stable growth from May 2022.
