AIIA selects Bush as next CEO

The Australian Information Industry Association, the leading industry body for innovative technologies, has promoted Simon Bush to the post of CEO.

“The AIIA is proud to announce that Simon Bush will be the organization’s next CEO,” said Robert Hillard, President of the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA).

“After a careful and exhaustive process, our Board of Directors is proud to have found such an outstanding leader for the organization from within our own ranks. Simon has proven his adaptability and strengths during his time with the ‘AIIA; his hard work and influence has resulted in important policy reforms for our sector. Simon’s experience with government and ability to engage our members to drive meaningful change has been clearly demonstrated.

Bush is currently AIIA’s Policy and Advocacy Manager, as well as CEO of Bush-Consulting.

Previously, he worked as Head of Data and Digital Infrastructure with the NSW Cyber Security Standards Harmonization Taskforce, as CEO of the Australian Home Entertainment Distributors Association, Director of Creative Content Australia, Director of Corporate Affairs at Accenture and senior adviser to an Australian minister.

Bush holds an honors degree in political science and philosophy from the Australian National University and is a graduate of the AICD’s Business Leadership Course.

“I am incredibly proud to be named CEO of AIIA,” Bush said.

“I look forward to building on the strong legacy that AIIA has built over the past 45 years, at a time when innovative technologies have never been more important. Having met many of our members during my time with AIIA , I am thrilled to represent them and work with them to grow our industry and continue to seek the recognition our sector deserves.”

Bush succeeds outgoing CEO Ron Gauci, who will leave AIIA on September 16, 2022. The two have worked closely together over the past three years.

“On behalf of the AIIA Board and Members, I must thank our outgoing CEO, Ron Gauci, for his tireless work. The past two years have presented many challenges to all organizations, but Ron leaves us with a strong membership base and a sector benefiting from Ron more than doubled AIIA’s membership during his tenure, called for major policy change and provided great opportunities for our members” , Hillard said.
