Here are Lakewood’s top three stories today:

  1. A Lakewood woman has been charged after being accused of stabbing her parents on December 6, 2022. Emily Deese, 34, is being held in Lorain County Jail on $240,000 bond for attempted murder, felony assault, domestic violence and evidence tampering. Deese’s parents survived the stab wound. (Cleveland News 19)
  2. The Associated Press released its top 10 teams in boys’ high school basketball polls Monday. Among four men’s teams in the greater Cincinnati area, Lakewood St. Edward came in at No. 1 for Division I. The team is 9-0 and has a total of 119 points this season.   3. Lakewood High School’s diving coach was a school diver in the ’60s. Now Dennis Dyke coaches his own grandson, JP, a freshman at Lakewood. Admitting that his grandfather asked him to join the team so he could teach him, JP thought it would be easier to learn with his grandfather who has been coaching at the school since 1995. Dyke said said of his grandson: “He reminds me of me.” (News 5 Cleveland)
